James T. (Jimmy) Davis retired after 52 years of teaching in higher education, including 36 years in the College of Architecture at Texas Tech University. As an artist his exhibition experience encompasses participation in 5 national design competition exhibitions, 35 one-man shows, 13 invitational group shows, 117 competitive national and international juried art exhibitions (22 international), winning 38 juried awards. He is currently a member of the West Texas Watercolor Society and is a Signature Member of both the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and the San Diego Watercolor Society. Davis’ art works have been exhibited commercially through the Godbold Cultural Center (juried entry) and Pyramid Plaza Art Gallery, Lubbock, Texas; the Cardboard Cow Gallery, Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Mid-South Galleries, McComb, Mississippi; and Bryant Galleries of Jackson, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana. His works are in prominent public and private collections in Jackson, Meridian, Gulfport, Natchez, Brookhaven, Laurel, Hattiesburg, Oxford and Quitman, Mississippi; New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mobile and Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Kansas City, Missouri; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Saginaw, Michigan; Miami, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Port Arthur and Lubbock, Texas, and Rome, Italy. He holds the rank of Shodan, (first degree black belt) in Aiki Ki Aikido. He has co-authored two textbooks and is now devoted to writing adventure/thriller fiction.
