The granddaughter of John Stanton, the well-known Bay-Area painter, O’Connor has always wanted to pursue an artistic career, but because fortune has a way of sending one on a different course than planned, she started to make art later in life. O’Connor received an AA in art from College of Marin and a BA in studio art from Sonoma State University, where she studied under Jay DeFeo. She has exhibited her work at juried shows, winning several awards. Her work is in a number of private collections.
Vanessa is an artist born and living in Frankfurt am Main. Her works mostly deal with abstract depictions of landscapes and figurative painting that flow into one another and have arisen from the imagination. The process of paintings is defined by heavily layered and mostly transparent acrylic technique on canvas, mostly on pure linen. Particular attention is paid to the blurring of silhouettes and forms, which is intended to reflect the subjective view of a landscape representation. The technique consists of a mixture of sharp lines and color gradients that flow into one another, partly accompanied by freely flowing colors in wet-on-wet technique.
